- Almost all modems (including USRs) are supposed to do this by
- default. Unforuntalty rate renegotiates don't work all the time and
- sometimes the modem has to retrain. Just to be sure, check to make sure
- that you don't have rate renegotiate turned off, they're disabled through
- Bit 1in S15 (at least on Couriers and old model Sportsters, don't know
- what the new PnP Sportsters use to disable rate renegotiate). If you're
- really getting a lot of retrains it's probably an indication of some sort
- of incompatability between you're modem and you're ISPs. You could try
- disabling the 3429 symbol rate to see if that improves anything, or
- forcing a connect one or two 2400 steps lower then you usually connect at,
- but I dont' think there's a way to actually disable retrains.
